EVERYDAY · FILES
Inspect remote files beside your shell.
Browse and preview
After connecting to an Astra Host, choose Open Remote Folder on the Host page, then select a directory allowed by --session-root. Files pages through directory contents. Common text and source files open in read-only tabs; other supported formats use the system preview. Line numbers and syntax emphasis make it practical to check configuration or logs beside terminal work.
Upload and download
Use Upload in the app; on macOS, you can also drag Finder files into the current directory. A system preview of a non-text file first downloads it into the app's managed cache. To save a remote file to an explicit local path, use the optional astra CLI. Astra Files/1 supports stable transfer IDs, SHA-256 verification, resume support, and atomic commit.
cd /path/to/astra-shell
./target/debug/astra -p 4433 -i /path/to/private-key YOUR_USER@YOUR_HOST files put ./local.tar remote.tar
./target/debug/astra -p 4433 -i /path/to/private-key YOUR_USER@YOUR_HOST files get remote.tar ./downloaded.tarFiles streams have lower priority than terminal streams, but end-to-end latency under large transfers still depends on your network and deployment. Test the behavior on your own path before production use.
Git status
Directory listings can show added, modified, deleted, unmerged, and untracked files. This is a browsing hint, not a replacement for complete Git review commands.
Safety boundary
The previewer does not execute file contents. The server controls path resolution, permissions, concurrent operations, and transfer quotas. The current product focuses on viewing and reliable transfer, not remote editing.
